Im feeling under the weather with a case of laryngitis. - You would think I would get some rest instead I decided to do some experimenting coloring with Photoshop. So i decided to sketch and my lady in red was created. I used a photoshop tutorial to add various layers and I liked the outcome. It was a bit time consuming but, it was worth learning a different technique. I think I'll get some rest now- or maybe I'll sketch a bit more.

ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY - Angels and Devils

Hope everyone's Mother's Day went well!!!! It was at a Mother's and Gradmother's tea I came up with an idea of for this weeks challenge. The interesting thing is that I dont know why I created the illustration and what exactly it means. But, I was having a wonderful conversations with one of the mother's from my eldest school and we began to discuss the world we live in.

As if that isn't a hefty enough conversation but, the focus was how the world has lost value and ethics through the years. I dont want to bore you with the details but, I grew up in a home that "the village raises a child". Today it's seems like every man is for themselves. But this woman hit home when she said to me - it's how we interpret things.

She went on to say if we give the devil a pedestal than it will look like he holds all the power. But, if we put him down and keep him small than it can never appear like he has all the control. So when I got home I began to sketch bits and pieces of angels in all sorts of arrangements and for some reason this interpertation stayed with me. Let me know your thoughts to what this illustration is trying to convey. Also, thanks everyone for your wonderful support and comments this past week!!!!! You guys are truly beautiful!!!!

Illustration Friday - Fat
Last week was a little abstraction this week I went with another digital image- Dizzy Gillespie. I have always loved seeing very expressive jazz paintings and I decided to do a version. When I hear Fat I think of this talented musician and those cheeks! Let me know your thoughts.

It's finally here!!!!! Check out the May/June issue of Travelgirl magazine. We were just coming out of the restaurant eating dinner when I got the call from close friends residing in Virginia - Screams of Congratulations on the other end. I had to see for myself. So we truck the kids to the nearest Barnes and Noble and their it was! A huge smile came across my face because the magazine did an exceptional job laying out the illustrations against there images! I was overwhelmed and so happy but my mind was racing on the next project to come!!!! Deepest thanks to you all for your support; especially to my hubby cause he gets the earful when I am at my last wits end! And thanks to my boys! - who always keep me as there biggest fan at heart!!!
Stay tune for the next Illustration Friday posts - FAT.

Illustration Friday - Under The Sea
It's been yet another busy week- unfortunately, I posted a little later than I would usually like. I volunteer my time once a week to work with a close friend - who started a daycare business with infants and children ranging in age 1 to 5 yrs. of age. Well, just yesterday, I received word a
co worker passed right after her shift. She was an older woman who was retired and spend a couple hours a day working with us at the daycare. It's was a shock to me and yet another reminder of how life is not guaranteed. She was a sweet spirited woman who always made me laugh - because she handled the children with an "old school" mentality "it takes a village to raise a child". A philosophy that has gotten lost in this world. A philosophy that always made me feel like I was home. May she rest in peace - Ms. Pierson. Forgive me all - if I havent gotten a chance to visit your blog but, know that I will be there soon. After all enjoying the gift of art always has a way of brightening all spirits.
