Illustration Friday_Poem

This week I immediately thought of a wonderful poem, I heard. I wanted to share it with everybody. See below for the entire poem.

Our Deepest Fear
by Marianne Williamson

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

This weeks IF_ DISCOVERY_ Watercolor

This past week I began a watercolor painting class and discovered an old media all over again. I usually find myself reaching for colored pencils, pencils, and even my computer as a medium to explore my ideas. But, the computer always intrigued me more; not sure if the graphic designer in me was crying out more. Or, I think sometimes I chose the easier route. To paint something digital was always quicker. But, what I do miss is my acrylics, watercolor and the many other forms of media we artist use. So, the last time I did a watercolor painting was years ago. And even then, my colors always seem to be so dull and watered down. Now, I'm discovering the basics again. In a way thats good; because its discovering the basics that can bring you to a whole new revelation. Okay I stretched it a bit with this weeks topic but; Enjoy.

IF _ Geeky

I have been really busy. I just got back from vacation in Florida. But, it took me a while to get back into the swing of things. But, it seemed that the time challenged me to confront some personal goals. I signed up for a watercolor class which starts this week. That should be really interesting and hopefully inspiring. I have also finish working on a dream board. Thanks to my sister I started building a huge collage of things that I desire to work on in my career as an artist. Thanks Sis! Finally, thats done and now I can focus on working on that list. Some of the things I have on my dream board ...

1. Illustrate for O magazine, Essence, ...

2. Create a pottery line_whimsical design ...

3. Illustrate and write a childrens book ...

4. Run a workshop, teach art to kids

5. Open a studio, selling art and crafts.

6. Have a gallery showing

This weeks IF challenge was Geeky. I did a quick sketch.
